Case Studies

PunisheD for complaining

A 17-year-old plaintiff faced severe and persistent sexual harassment from a higher-ranking individual who also reported to the same supervisor. The plaintiff and her mother reported the harassment to the supervisor and later to payroll. Shortly afterward, the plaintiff and her family members were terminated and instructed to vacate company-provided housing. We provided a supportive declaration, and the case was resolved with monetaryrelief for the plaintiff and her family.

Wrongful termination…or not?

A former CE, once on an upward career path, sued his ex-employer after being terminated due to a business unit reorganization. He alleged wrongful termination and contract violation. The company argued that the reorganization justified his termination, citing his performance record as unsuitable for reassignment. IHR, a defense expert, played a role in the case, which ultimately settled.

Harassed as retaliation

The plaintiff, with a stellar employment history, defied her supervisor’s request to sign a false statement about a colleague. She then documented her supervisor’s policy violations, reporting them to HR. Despite her efforts to transfer departments, the supervisor obstructed her path and allegedly harmed her reputation. When she raised concerns with HR, she was redirected to the same supervisor. In the end, her employment was terminated, leading to a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Nothing to talk about

When a former HR Director filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against her municipal employer, counsel sought our expertise as plaintiff’s expert witnesses. After examining the primary documents, we found insufficient evidence to fully support her claim of unjust termination. IHR assessed the case’s merits, communicated our reservations to the plaintiff’s counsel, and ultimately declined to serve as experts for the plaintiff.
